Rick Malone, Founder and President
In less than 14 years, Rick Malone has taken KIOSK Information Systems from a small start-up company to a
dominant industry leader. He has intimate knowledge of every nuance of a kiosk project and how to navigate a customer to a world-class solution. Rick has built an exceptional leadership team, leveraging his first hand experience in engineering, sales, operations, finance, and service. His dynamic leadership style and competitive nature have guided the company through record growth years (up to 575% over five years), earning KIOSK national recognition on the 2004 Deloitte & Touche list of 50 Fastest Growing Companies. With five facility moves and 12 expansions over the years, KIOSK is still enjoying double-digit growth.
Since starting the company, Rick has played a pivotal role in closing KIOSK's key client base. His ability to grasp a customer's vision and execute the end solution has won KIOSK strategic clients in virtually every self-service vertical market. The caliber of clients closed includes WalMart, McDonalds, Anheuser Bush, Federal Express, Department of Homeland Security, among countless other Fortune 500 names.
Rick's eye for quality design engineering, and a strong sense of market direction has resulted in a highly profitable family of standard and custom products. Competitive operational and quality leadership measures, including ISO9001 quality and service initiatives, have earned KIOSK a reputation as a trusted OEM manufacturer.
Dan Houck, COO and General Manager
Dan Houck joined the KIOSK team in October of 2000 as General Manager to oversee the operations of KIOSK's then 45,000 square foot facility. Since then, he negotiated and coordinated the company's move to a much larger 65,000 square foot custom-built operations facility. He has guided the company to becoming an ISO-9001-2000 certified manufacturing and engineering facility, and currently manages a production workforce of over 60 personnel as well as over 60 contractors. Dan's leadership in key areas including Finance, Supply Line Management, Production / Operations, and Field Services have enabled KIOSK to become among the most flexible and responsive OEM manufacturers in the industry.
Dan brings seasoned management skills to his position with a resume that includes Vice President/COO of Complex Tooling and Molding where he was General Manager of six plants, leading 450 employees and $90 million in annual revenue. Prior to that, he was the Operations Manager of Plastic Products Corporation overseeing General Managers, Sales, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Corporate Documentation Control for 650 employees and six plants.
Don Stark, VP of Engineering
Don Stark has been a key member of KIOSK Information Systems' Executive Management Team since 1995. He has played a major role in the company's success, designing over 500 new and unique products, including all of KIOSK's standard product offering.
Don is a hands-on Design and Manufacturing Engineer with diverse experience in bringing new products to market in short time frames. He works with all phases of the design process; including vendor management, quality control, and client design services. His efforts in design process control enable KIOSK to expertly navigate customer projects from concept and prototyping to qualification and production.
Don has contributed heavily to key technical developments including KIOSK's manufacturing process, ISO 9001-2000 documentation, assembly and quality guidelines, fixturing, vendor support, final test procedures, and traceability. Further, he sets-up and maintains KIOSK's certified U.L. manufacturing facility controls and ensures all products meet UL, ADA, and FCC specifications. His proven track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to specification has earned KIOSK an outstanding reputation in the industry. Rapport with customers, vendors, and peers is a key personal and professional asset.
Don has an extensive background in design engineering (PepsiCo), programming (Diversified Metal Products and Century International Corporation), and operations management (The Metal Company). He holds dual degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Sciences.
Tom Weaver, VP of Sales and Marketing
Tom Weaver joined KIOSK in 2004, bringing over 16 years of executive sales management experience to the company. His sales team leadership has contributed 20%+ annual growth rates, bringing in multi-million dollar contracts from Disney, PepsiCo, Safeway, Amtrak / SITA, Dave & Busters, Vanguard, Coinstar, and many others. He has extensive industry knowledge and an innate ability to isolate the unique elements that will close an account.
Under Tom's leadership, the KIOSK sales team has developed a greater solution based focus, bringing a more turnkey, consultative sales approach to KIOSK's expanding customer base. Tom has established strong relationships with key industry software partners, and navigated OEM partnership status with Dell and currently, HP. He has focused heavily on establishing the dominant web presence in the industry, leveraging the close of the kiosk.com URL, and introducing online quoting efficiency.
Tom's background is predominantly in Executive Sales, where he averaged 240% of plan with Airtouch / Verizon Communications, Traq Wireless, Amrion Corporation, and Sprint. He has also held General Manager responsibilities for Airtouch / Verizon managing 135 employees and full P&L in Operations, Customer Service, Sales, and Marketing. Tom's natural ability to put a deal together helped him close $20M in venture capital funding for Traq Wireless.
KIOSK produces self-service terminals spanning every imaginable application including human resources, order entry, ticketing,
bill payment, photo kiosks, music download, public internet access and many others.
