KIOSK
INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND NETSHIFT JOIN FORCES TO LAUNCH 'PLUG-AND-GO'
PAY-PER-USE KIOSK
BROOMFIELD,
Colo. - Kiosk Information Systems recently announced its partnership
with NetShift, a leading global public access solutions provider,
to develop and launch a new 'plug-and-go' pay-per-use kiosk branded
'Shibby .' The new Shibby kiosk was unveiled on May 14 at
the APCC 2002 Expo in Las Vegas, Nev.
The Shibby units
provide entrepreneurial kiosk operators with a pre-packaged, plug-and-go
kiosk solution that offers a fixed set of pay-to-use options designed
to generate rapid profit. Shibby kiosks are both easy to use and
deploy, eliminating the need for implementation and training by
a kiosk technician. The units are factory configured prior to shipping
to known locations with known connection characteristics and simply
require power and regular telecommunication connections on arrival
at the site.
Powered by NetShift's
secure, robust and reliable software, Shibby kiosks provide a wide
range of services to users including e-mail, video e-mail, Internet
access and games. The kiosks feature cash acceptors and credit card
readers, enabling customers to purchase products of all kinds via
the units while offering kiosk operators the opportunity to generate
high levels of revenue with an excellent return on investment. Exceptional
physical protection and information security levels are provided
via comprehensive mechanisms with 128-bit encryption techniques
used to transmit confidential data over public networks where appropriate
and guard against child access to adult Web sites.
Also included
in the Shibby rental package is remote kiosk management from a network
operations center. This service makes it possible for kiosk operators
to respond quickly to problems and ensure maximum uptime of their
units. For instance, the network operations center alerts kiosk
operators to any event requiring human intervention, such as a full
cash box. In addition, daily reports are generated from the center,
allowing operators to analyze changing usage patterns - the reports
make it easy to see how much time users spend on individual activities,
enabling operators to learn more about their customers' needs.
"Shibby
is more than just a hardware/software kiosk solution," said
KIOSK President Rick Malone. "The system is durable, cost-effective
and easy to use. The KIOSK KW605 enclosure is constructed of steel
and cast aluminum and features a rugged keyboard and industrial
trackball. The equipment can withstand heavy traffic use and

it's available
to entrepreneurial operators at an extremely low price point. All
of the difficult network operations are provided to operators through
the Shibby program. For an operator, it's pretty simple -
determine a kiosk location, install the unit and collect the money.
Any location that can generate and support two hours of Shibby usage
per day will result in profits for the operator."
Bob Gallner,
NetShift's head of U.S. operations, said, "We are very excited
by the concept of Shibby kiosks for providing casual public Internet
access and associated Web services. The Shibby kiosks are designed
to be attractive to a variety of niche and independent operators
who may lack the necessary technical resources to build, deploy
and manage a small kiosk network. With Shibby, these smaller companies
can deliver a highly professional and profitable solution with minimum
technical resources."
