UNIVERSITY
OF PITTSBURGH OFFERS
KIOSK INTERNET ACCESS CAMPUS WIDE

BROOMFIELD, Colo. Kiosk Information Systems, Inc. has
contracted with the University of Pittsburgh to design and manufacture
Internet kiosks for use by students, faculty and staff on the universitys
campus. The kiosks enable users to access both e-mail and the World
Wide Web, offering students an alternative to the hectic campus
computing lab, and increasing electronic communication among students,
faculty and staff.
To date, the
University of Pittsburgh has installed 62 KIOSK kiosks in various
common areas throughout the University of Pittsburgh campus, including
residence halls, the food court and the library café. An
additional 38 kiosks are currently on order and will be placed in
locations decided by the universitys student affairs, student
activities and facilities management committees.
"The University
of Pittsburgh kiosks illustrate KIOSK ability to customize a
standard product to reflect a high tech, progressive organization
at an affordable price," said KIOSK President, Rick Malone. "The
kiosks offer e-mail and Internet access, yet contain only a 15 inch
monitor, keyboard with trackball, and internal computer. The compact,
sleek design makes it possible to install the kiosks in virtually
any location on the U of P campus."
